スポーツの先進国アメリカでは、スポーツ選手の外傷・障害の予防、救急処置、リコンディショニングなどを担当するアスレティックトレーナーという職業が確立されており、プロスポーツはもとより様々なレベルのスポーツ現場において欠かすことのできない存在となっています。
1975年、アメリカのアスレティックトレーナーの職能団体である全米アスレティック トレーナー協会(NATA, National Athletic Trainers' Association)、そしてその実践学問であるアスレティック トレーニング(Athletic Training)が我が国に紹介されました。1977年には日本人第1号のNATA公認アスレティックトレーナー（ATC, Athletic Trainer Certified）が誕生し、現在では170名を超える日本人ATCが様々なスポーツの現場で 活動しています。
スポーツが様々なレベルで盛んになってきている我が国においても、今まで以上にアスレティックトレーナー、アスレティックトレー ニングに興味を持つ人が年々増加しており、その必要性も高まっています。このような状況を背景として、1996年6月NATAの協力のもと、日本人ATC が中心となりジャパン・アスレティックトレーナーズ機構が設立されました。そして、2014年にはNATAの公式アフィリエイト団体となりました。
今後の益々の発展のため、2018年８月、JATOは一般社団法人ジャパン・アスレティックトレーナーズ機構へ生まれ変わりました。
In the United States of America (USA), one of the global leaders in the advancement of sport, the role of athletic training in the prevention, management, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries is well established. As a result, athletic trainers in the USA are recognized as an essential part of the sport medicine team at all levels of sport from high school to professional sports.
In 1975, the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), introduced the profession of athletic training in Japan. In 1977, the first Japanese citizen was NATA certified as an Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC). Now more than 170 Japanese ATCs are active in various sports.
Increasing sports participation at various levels, has caused the Japanese people to recognize the importance of the services provided by an athletic trainer. Interest in athletic trainers and athletic training has been increasing year by year. Establishment of the Japan Athletic Trainers Organization (JATO) in June 1996 with support from the NATA, has boosted the presence of athletic training in Japan. JATO continued to grow and became an official affiliate organization of NATA in 2014.
To foresee and to be more effective in the future in athletic training, JATO was reorganized/restructured and officially incorporated as the Japan Athletic Trainers' Organization in August 2018.
ロゴの歴史 - Logo History
2020年
このロゴは2017年に法人化したことをきっかけにロゴの改定が提案され、NATAの協力のもと、デザインされ2020年度正会員を対象に投票を行い決定しました。
このロゴで使用されている赤は合衆国旗で使用されているOld Glory Red、青は日本を代表する色として知られジャパンブルーと呼ばれることもある藍色です。この2つの色を採用することで、JATOにとって欠かすことのできないアメリカと日本の繋がりを表現しています。
また日本らしさを表現する為に国花である桜を加え、桜が「人生の転機を彩る花」として知られているように、この新しいロゴと共にJATOも新しいステップへと歩みを進め、更なるアスレティックトレーニングの普及を目指すことを意味しています。
This logo was proposed for revision after JATO was incorporated in 2017, and with the help of the NATA, the logo was designed and voted on by the JATO regular members in 2020.
The color of Old Glory Red in the American national flag is used to express the profound connection between Japan and the United States, while the color of indigo known as Japan Blue is used to represent our country.
Moreover, our national flower “cherry blossom” is added as a motif, and represents a new step forward for JATO and the spread of athletic training, just as cherry blossoms are known as "the flower that colors a turning point in one's life".
2006年
このロゴはJATO設立10周年を記念し、新生JATOの象徴として制作されました。
選考委員会が設置され、その中で絞られた複数の案より、会員投票にて選ばれました。
初代ロゴの青と赤の色が引き継がれています。
This logo was created to commemorate the 10th anniversary of JATO's establishment and to symbolize the new JATO.
A selection committee was set up, and the logo was chosen by vote of the members of JATO from a number of proposals narrowed down.
The blue and red colors of the original logo were retained
1997年
JATO発足後間もなくの1997年に、ロゴの作成が検討されました。複数の案が上がる中、当時JATO理事で初代の事務局担当であった戸辺詔子氏がデザインしたロゴが採用されました。
このロゴのデザインには、JATO発足当時のATCを取り囲む環境を鑑みて込められた思いがありました。
「 当時は日本のATCは個人の名は知れていても少数で、今団体をきっちり作って日本のATCがグループとして発言する土台がないと埋もれてしまうという危機感がありました。当時のロゴは、細い糸でもしっかり自分たちの学んだ場所であるアメリカと繋いでいくという気持ちでデザインしました。」（戸辺 詔子談）
星にはアメリカの星条旗をイメージして青が、丸には日本の日の丸をイメージして赤が採用されています。
In 1997, shortly after JATO was established, the creation of a logo was discussed. Among several proposals, the logo designed by Noriko Tobe, who was a JATO board member and the first director of office, was selected.
The design of this logo was inspired by the environment that surrounded ATC when JATO was established.
At that time, although the names of the individuals ATCs in Japan were known, they were few and far between, and there was a sense of urgency that the ATCs in Japan would be buried without a firm foundation to form an organization and have a voice as a group. I designed the logo at that time with the intention of connecting even the thinnest of threads with the United States, the place where we studied. (Interview with Noriko Tobe)
The stars are blue to represent the American Star-Spangled Banner, and the circle is red to represent the Japanese Hinomaru.
